HAR KI DUN TREK
Nestled within the Garhwal Himalayas, the Har Ki Dun Trek unveils one of the most breathtaking valleys, perched at an elevation of 4,000 meters (12,000 feet). Revered by locals as "The Valley of the Gods," this locale is embraced by stunning alpine vistas and teems with a rich tapestry of flora and fauna. Notably, the Yamuna River originates here, and the Borasu Pass connects it to the Baspa Valley.

Revered as India's premier river valley trail, the journey beckons adventurers to experience the mesmerizing transformation of the landscape with changing seasons. Amidst this journey, a mandatory pause to absorb the expansiveness of the broad, picturesque valley, immerse in the local culture and hospitality, and explore the quaint settlements that dot the route is a must.
Enhancing the allure are panoramic views of the Laundhar glacier and the Swargarohini range, infusing an element of thrill and adventure. A fortunate encounter with the Himalayan Monal, Uttarakhand's state bird, and various forest-dwelling creatures might grace your path. Moreover, the vista unfurls breathtaking panoramas of the Jaundhar Glacier, Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini Peaks I & II, and the imposing Black Peak.

Our expedition commences as we depart Dehradun and head towards Sankri via the charming route through Mussoorie. During this journey, we'll pause for a delightful lunch break en route. The path unfolds like a tapestry, tracing the course from the Yamuna River to the captivating Tonnes River, punctuated by several other waterways that grace our passage.
Amidst this voyage, nature's beauty comes alive, with stretches of exquisite pine forests creating picturesque interludes. Upon arriving at Sankri, our destination, we'll proceed to the idyllic Campsite for check-in. To limber up our muscles for the adventures ahead, we'll take a leisurely evening stroll around Sankri. As night falls, your lodgings await in the welcoming embrace of Sankri.
The initial segment of the day promises an exhilarating and captivating journey to Taluka, the starting point of our trek. Embarking on this day of adventure, you will traverse a mesmerizing blend of woodlands and follow the graceful path alongside the Supin River. While the trek is largely characterized by its gentle gradient, a few exhilarating challenges are interwoven into the experience, enhancing the excitement.
This region boasts an enduring and distinctive cultural heritage that has been admirably preserved over the years. Today, you'll have the opportunity for an intimate and firsthand exploration of your particular interests. While much of the terrain features gradual inclines, occasional demanding stretches have been included to add a touch of thrill. As the day's journey concludes, you will find your haven for the night in the charming locale of Purani Garaat.
Commencing the day's activities, we embark on a leisurely walk to Osala Village. The route elegantly follows the Supin River, gradually leading us toward the charming Osala. This quaint settlement rests at an elevation of 8.5 thousand feet above sea level, cocooned in its secluded tranquility. Here, a brief pause offers a chance to absorb the surroundings before proceeding.
The ensuing stroll is marked by a delightful sense of ease, as much of the path maintains a gentle level. While the initial trail might present some inclines, the promise of the breathtaking panorama ahead eclipses any challenges. Within just thirty minutes, we'll find ourselves encompassing not one, but two serene lakes. These two locations are united by a graceful wooden bridge.
Beyond the curve of the mountains and the bridge's traverse, an expansive front unfolds, adorned with meadows aplenty. This juncture serves as the launching point for an expedition that navigates the twists and turns of the encircling peaks, amidst wide fields adorned with stones and hillocks. An improvised wooden bridge emerges ahead, providing a vantage to behold the Supin valley stretching above.
Despite the captivating vistas, the ascent intensifies from this juncture onward. Our subsequent destination is Kalkatiyadhaar, nestled at a height of 2,692 meters. Here, under the canopy of Kalkatiyadhaar, we'll find rest for the night, embraced by the quietude of the elevated haven.
Diverging from the routine of previous days, today's expedition commences earlier, promising another round of awe-inspiring sights that have defined our journey so far. Brace yourself for another round of captivating vistas lying ahead. The path ahead will seamlessly connect with moraines and alpine meadows, eventually leading to the glacier basin. Each twist and turn along the trail unveils majestic pine trees that stand tall and welcoming.
As you venture forth, the trail ascends through varying inclines and levels of challenge before revealing the enchanting Har Ki Dun valley. For those daring to ascend further, a realm of frozen waterfalls and snowy landscapes awaits, these icy fields retaining their wintry charm throughout the entire season. The valley emerges as an ethereal haven, seemingly plucked from celestial realms upon first glance.
The grandeur of the surroundings truly comes to life, with vistas that extend from colossal peaks like Swargarohini, Hata Mountain, to the commanding presence of Black Top – each panorama leaving you breathless in sheer admiration.
Having traversed the valley and etched enduring memories into our journey, we retrace our steps to our final campsite at Kalkattiyadhar. Here, amidst the tranquil surroundings, you'll find solace in the tents arranged for your overnight stay in Kalkatiyadhaar.
From this point onward, our route entails retracing our steps in the reverse direction. Today's expedition leads us through Oslo village as we navigate back towards Pauni Garaat. Along this path, we have the chance to relive the joyful moments cherished by the locals, an opportunity to immerse ourselves once more in the enchanting atmosphere.
As we progress towards the Pauni Garaat camping site, it's time to bid farewell to both the warm-hearted locals who have shared their company and the awe-inspiring surroundings that have captivated us. To reach our destination, we'll retrace the same route we took previously. Let's make the most of the remaining hours of mountain nightlife, savoring every moment of this unique experience.
The dawn heralds the commencement of a five-hour expedition to Taluka. During this journey, you will ascend the well-trodden path, making customary pauses at familiar rest points. As you reach the terminus of the gravel road, the awaiting vehicle stands ready to transport you back to the base camp.
Exercise caution regarding a technique referred to as the "falling approach." While descending may be less demanding, it's advisable not to subject your footwear to excessive strain by taking overly large strides.
Anticipate the arrival in Sankri for a refreshing tea break at the designated time.
The final stretch of our journey entails a ten-hour car ride from Sankri to Dehradun. During this voyage, we'll pause for both breakfast and lunch, ensuring a satisfying culinary experience en route. Arriving in Dehradun, the station will commence operations at six o'clock in the evening, facilitating onward travel to Delhi through the night.
From Day 1 through Day 8 of your walk, you will be sleeping in various hotels and tents.
All meals are provided, beginning with the first night’s dinner and ending with breakfast on day eight. On all days of the walk, we provide simple, healthy vegetarian meals.
We will provide for round-trip transportation from Dehradun to Dehradun
Trekking permits and camping expenses in the woods are all accounted for.
Tents and sleeping bags of the highest quality will be provided at each camp. Fortunately, we have high-altitude sleeping bags that are good down to ten degrees Celsius.
Gaiters, microspikes, and ropes are available.
Costs associated with carrying personal items, such as luggage, on the hike.
The term “emergency costs” refers to any and all costs that crop up as a direct consequence of a crisis.
There will be no access to bottled water at any point throughout the walk.
